About Me
Hi and welcome — I’m so happy to connect with you here.
For over 20 years, I’ve been exploring what it truly means to live in my body. My journey began with significant weight loss and evolved through endurance sports, yoga, and strength training — and ultimately, toward rest, presence, and deep listening. What began as a workout became a way of life: breath as medicine, community as anchor, and healing as something that moves through both sweat and fire, as well as quiet and stillness.
After a decade of burnout, I began reimagining what a purpose-led life could look like — creating sustainable, holistic action plans to bring it to life. That evolution led me from Toronto to Los Angeles, where I co-founded Modo Yoga LA Echo Park and Venice in 2015, and later founded Alice Toyonaga Wellness. I experience life with my feet in the ground and my head in the stars — always seeking balance between the practical and the magical.
My work weaves together mindful movement, breathwork, Reiki, somatic and sound healing, and holistic coaching, all grounded in Buddhist principles and trauma-informed practice. I believe healing isn’t linear. In both my personal practice and my work with others, I trust the body’s wisdom to guide what kind of support it needs.
Whether one-on-one or in group settings, I help people reconnect with their strength, softness, and authentic embodiment. At the heart of it all, my work is about connection and empowerment — supporting you through transitions, and helping you find balance, presence, and wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.
I’ve led coaching clinics and workshops across Canada and the U.S., and have taught and presented for companies including Running Room, lululemon, Nike, Disney, and Spotify. I’ve been fortunate to study with incredible professors, yoga and pranayama teachers, and coaches — and my most recent (and most humbling) teacher, my four-year-old son, Sebi.
